What is Cinema

 Although I could not relate too much to this reading, I did find some comparisons very interesting. I notice the author compares a lot of sociology and psychology to Photography and Cinema. Being someone who comes from a field of sociology I am actually impressed that the two have anything in common. The thing he compares photography to the most would be paintings. Which makes a lot of sense because many artist even take pictures or use pictures before painting and artwork.

    For camera exercise 1, where can I find the parameters or, in other words, the camera moves listed. I can’t find it in the syllabus...any help is much appreciated-Gary Angle

Methods of Montage

I really like how they were saying that montages make the subject more interesting and well-paced for the audience. But it was really strange to me how they use a lot of big words/vocabs. to describe montage. It was quite confusing for me at first to see how they describe montage in such a weird way. Montages help distinguishes many different things like youtube channels and people's gameplays. Some like to play with styles and some play for the wins.

Week 1 - Walter Murch - In the Blink of an Eye (Excerpts)

I like how in the preface there is a quote that says "most of us are searching-- consciously or unconsciously-- for a degree of internal balance and harmony between ourselves and the outside world, and if we happen to become aware" I think that it is so true. Another thing I thought was interesting was the "unseen" minutes aspect of it. Back then-- film was not how it is now.. it was not as easy to cut because they had to watch everything first and of course it took a slower time because it was not easily on a file in front of them.
